The Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) has come under fire for multiple allegations of plagiarism. This comes after ASAN allegedly plagiarized an indigenous advocate’s artwork. In response to the allegations, ASAN has responded saying that they are investigating the matter. Following the incident, ASAN was met with backlash from other big advocates such as Neurodivergent Rebel and Fierce Autie. In the response to the backlash, ASAN has said that they will allegedly look into the matter. ASAN has also fired back and accused people of attacking. However, what many are saying is that ASAN failed to do any research.

While some people are supporting ASAN a vast majority have hit out at ASAN. When confronted about the matter ASAN had this to say.

“We hear everyone who is commenting and we take your concerns seriously. All we can do is continue to explain the situation, which is that the staff involved in writing “Start Here” have not previously read the work people are discussing here, and did not reference or paraphrase it.

We noticed some personal attacks made about the author of that work in this Facebook thread. We will not be tolerating this kind of personal attacks and have deleted the comments.”

It is unknown what ASAN plans to do after receiving the allegations. They have said that they will look into the allegations.

ASAN is the biggest International Advocacy Organisation and is the most trusted and most recommended organisation by almost every advocate. They are also the biggest Autistic-led organisation, unlike the terrorist group known as Autism Speaks.
