Introduction

There is a doctrine that has been taught among many people and that doctrine is the teaching of Eternal Security or Once Saved Always Saved.

If someone is to create a doctrine then it has to have logic and sadly that is one of the very things that OSAS lacks. It lacks logic in that the whole cause of OSAS is too easy for mankind to actually follow. People would want to follow something that is easy because they do not have to put in the extra effort to follow Jesus. This brings the article to the first conclusion of the amount of sloth that is present within Once Saved Always Saved. The core tenet of OSAS is that one just simply believes in Jesus and then they are presumed to be saved. They presume that they are saved and they do not need to do anything to be saved. This is false for many reasons and thus it also presents laziness and it would entirely leave out the whole of Revelation. Because the people think that they are not going to be judged. They presume that they are already saved from hell and so therefore they do not need to put in the effort. This is wrong for so many reasons and those being A. as mentioned in Galatians one is capable of losing their salvation through mortal sin. B. The entirety of it would go against scripture.

The massive flaws in OSAS

In this section, the many flaws of OSAS will be explored. One sin that is present entirely within OSAS is sloth. You see Once Saved Always Saved teaches that all you simply need to do is believe in Jesus and then you will be saved. The whole concept of OSAS would then be completely easy and that is not what the bible teaches. If one was to look in the bible for instance they would know that the bible tells of hardships and that people are going to be persecuted for their faith. Jesus himself even says “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Matt 16:24). So where in OSAS does it preach this? Jesus himself taught his followers and those who listened that if one is to follow him then there is going to be hardships and they will be persecuted for their faith “Blessed are are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.” (Matt 5:11–12) Therefore this presents the amount of sloth within OSAS.

Sins as taught by OSAS

Now those who are followers of OSAS believe that repenting of sins are works and is not needed to get into heaven. This is fatally wrong on multiple occasions as it is against what the bible teaches. Revelation states many times that those who do not repent are going to suffer harsh penalties. Now, what are works? A work is something that is done however when the context of works is actually applied it is referring to the 14 works of mercy. Now Catholics do not believe that works are needed to get into Heaven as per the council of Trent “If anyone promotes a works-based salvation let him be Anathema.” Catholics believe that both faith and works are needed and that we are saved by grace. Revelation tells specifically that those who do not repent are going to suffer many harsh plagues if they do not turn from their sins. (Rev 16: 10–11) So again telling others that one does not need to repent of their sins is fatally wrong for multiple reasons because it is spreading heresy. Jesus himself said as he taught “The healthy have no need of a physician but the sick do therefore I call not just the righteous but sinners to repent!” Now again OSAS followers will argue that the Greek translation for repentance “Menatoia” means a change of mind and this is untrue for multiple reasons because while yes it can mean a change of mind one must look at how the word is being used and the more mainstream definitions are to ask for forgiveness. OSAS believers will use Jonah 3:10 to back up their claim and this does not back up their claim. To give more evidence that Jonah 3:10 does not back up their claim one must look at the KJV bible where it says that God repented. OSAS believers will argue that this is the sole definition however while in that context of the verse God changed his mind and decided not to destroy the city of Nineveh one must look at the full verse in context. As the word “Repent” in the KJV bible actually has both of the meanings and the mainstream and more used one in the KJV bible is to ask God for forgiveness. One must look at the full context of a verse in order to actually decipher the meaning of the word that is being used.

If Once Saved Always Saved was biblical then it would leave out the entirety of Revelation because the whole purpose of Revelation is to discuss the prophecy of Jesus returning to judge the world which has become corrupt with evil. If OSAS was applied then while Jesus would be coming back he would not need to judge the world as again according to OSAS everyone is saved because they believed in Jesus. The main hypocritical trait of OSAS followers is that they will attack even members of their own branch and those that do not use KJV. They will attack Catholic Christians, Orthodox, and progressive Christians when by the logic of their own doctrine all of whom should be saved. Even “Progressive Christians” would be saved as they believe in Jesus so then they would be saved. Even those that live in corrupt sin would be saved. So it would make no sense for an OSAS follower to attack others when She or he follows a doctrine that says that everyone is saved if they just believe in Jesus. Again by that logic, even the Devil himself would be saved for he too believes in Jesus. The cataclysmic events of Revelation that are due to befall those who are evil and unrepentant would not happen according to OSAS because again everyone is saved so, therefore, it would not happen and yes while the logic of OSAS would also contradict the book of James (James 2:14) the one book that will be the focus point will be the book of revelation so that those who preach OSAS can get a taste of reality.

When Jesus says “Those who are well have no need of a physician but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but the sinners to repent.” (Luke 5:31–32) When Jesus says this he is specifically calling the sinners to stop and turn from the sins that they have committed in the past. He is not calling them to just simply believe he is calling them to stop sinning.

Thus this takes away right then and there the “Repentance is works” claim because time and time again Jesus tells his followers that they are to repent of the sins that they have committed. OSAS is not even found in the translation of the KJV (King James Version) bible because although there are some translation errors within the KJV not one of the verses within KJV would actually support OSAS. (All of the followers of OSAS are actually KJV onlyists meaning they only and strictly use the KJV version of the bible). The KJV Bible is named after King James VI and I of the United Kingdom and was published in 1611 however more of the KJV bible history will be explored later.

The doctrine in itself also lacks stability in that those who believe the doctrine also ironically and as mentioned before attack others who believe in Christ. So then would that not be ironic? For this argument, the progressive Christian movement will be explored. Are they also not saved? They also believe in Jesus so why then are they being attacked? The same goes for any dictator are they also saved?

Trigger Warning for this next part as it mentions serial killings and hate groups etc. (If you do not want to hear about the triggering part please scroll down to the second last paragraph)

So then suppose a member of the KKK (Ku Klux Klan: A notorious white supremacist group) butchers an entire city and kills hundreds. Is he then saved? He believes in God so then is he saved? Is he saved despite the fact that he killed multiple people? Short answer: He needs to repent of the murders that he committed.

It is also dangerous to presume that one is saved and to presume that others are burning in hell especially when you preach a doctrine that is false. Furthermore, those who preach this false doctrine are demonstrating their own sins and contradicting their own doctrine.

For Christ teaches to those who listen “Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.” Those who are no sinless and have no sins under their name are the ones who can pass judgment. Now onto the book of James which says in verse 2:14 Faith without works is dead. This again would contradict OSAS in that it says Faith alone is needed.

By all means, the sacraments are not works and furthermore, they are recorded in the bible and they are not works. The actual works are the 14 works of mercy which are rooted in ethics and Jesus makes it specifically clear that these are pleasing to God. Matt 25:31–46. Both Faith and works are needed and the council of Trent states “If anyone promotes faith alone let him be Anathema.” “If anyone promotes a works-based salvation let him be anathema.”

The history of KJV

The KJV Bible is the bible that is strictly used by those that believe in OSAS now there are versions of this bible with 80 books which include the full Apocrypha including 3,4 Maccabees etc and versions of those without the Apocrypha however those that do not use the Apocrypha are the more modern ones as they only contain 66 books compared to the 1611 version which itself has 80 books. However, KJV onlyists will be surprised to learn that not only is the KJV massively flawed in translation but not once does it back up the beliefs of Once Saved Always Saved and they will be surprised to learn that the influence of the KJV actually comes from a Catholic Document which is called the Latin Vulgate. However, the KJV bible actually does have other errors other than the homosexual king and they are as follows

  1. The KJV Bible was meant to be politically based as King James wanted to prevent within his country a fate similar to that of France and Germany
  2. The KJV bible has many translation errors mainly because the translators were not fluent in Koine Greek which was the dialect spoken in the original translations and one such obvious translation error is the word “Unicorn”. Another mistranslation was the word “miseo” which actually meant to prefer less however this was mistaken as hate.
  3. The KJV bible promoted King James’ hatred of witches (Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live)
  4. A critical error within the KJV original bible left out “not” in “Thou shalt not commit adultery”

There are many more errors within the KJV bible however these are just a few of them.

Who is the homosexual King?

King James VI and I was the king of England he was rumored to have multiple homosexual affairs with multiple men. Which is ironic given that a bible publication is named after him.

Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not sleep with a man as with a woman for this is an abomination

In brief

OSAS is by all means completely false and thus unbiblical and it is fatally wrong on so many levels. It is an unstable and heretical doctrine preached by those who want to take the easy route out of following Jesus. It is preached by those who do not want to follow hardships it is preached by those who want to take the easy route. Thus hence the nickname that will be applied to this teaching and that nickname is “The Sloth doctrine” because of the sin that this false doctrine represents and that is the deadly sin of sloth because these people are exhibiting laziness. To further add to the conclusion, those who follow the OSAS doctrine had better not be supportive of discrimination because again OSAS specifically states to simply believe in Jesus and progressive protestants believe in Jesus so again by that logic they are saved. Plus how would the king (who the KJV bible is named after) feel if those who supported the use of the bible that is named after him bashed his sexuality?
