Why too much progression is a bad thing for some.

In regards to some things there comes a time where progression is needed but how much should we really “Get with the times?”. While it is good to have progression in some aspects, some areas can not allow themselves to have too much progression otherwise what is the point of their fundamental being?

Let us start first off with Monarchy. While it is good that monarchs strive to connect with other people how much progressiveness is needed? To quote HM Mary of Teck from ep 4 season 1 of the Crown “The purpose of the Monarchy is to give people an example to strive towards. To give them something to look up to.” Too much progression and people will not have anything to look up to. Traditions should still be kept in place otherwise what is the focal point of the Monarchy?

The British Royal family is a family whose lineage goes back 1000 years and there have been multiple traditions. They can not allow themselves to progress too much otherwise it will see the internal downfall of the monarchy and some of it would cause a huge scandal and like the saying goes “You can’t please everyone” (Trust me I found this out the hard way).

and yes while the British Monarchy goes back 1000 years the Church of England only goes back 500 years and all the British monarchs before King Henry VIII were in fact Roman Catholic.

In Brief

The Monarchy can not progress too much with the people otherwise it will essentially lose the focal point of its existence.

Now onto something older. The Catholic Church, again this becomes a more strict matter because this is the Church founded by God himself. Tradition is important in that we must strive to do God’s work in all that we do. The Catholic Church goes back 2000 years. So again this becomes a stricter matter.

In Order to follow Christ one must forsake the world

What Is the World?

When the world is mentioned the context within this phrase is that it is talking about the sins of the world. The current sins of the world must not be allowed to infiltrate that of the Church. So therefore the Catholic Church must not bring herself into disrepute by progressing too much otherwise this will give serpents who are looking to destroy the Church leverage against her.

When the phrase “The World” is used in this context it is mentioning all the sins and vices of the world.
